Two sisters from a Hindu family donated four bighas of land worth around Tk 2 crore to an Eidgah to fulfill their father’s last wish. To express their gratitude, the local Muslims also prayed for the peace of the soul of the person on the day of Eid. This pattern of harmony in Kashipur town in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand has garnered much praise.

The two sisters of the Hindu family who donated four bighas of land to Eidgah are Saroj and Anita. According to media reports, Brajnandan Prasad Rastogi, a resident of Kashipur town, died in January 2003. Before his death, he told his relatives that he wanted to donate his four bighas of agricultural land for an Eidgah. But he died before he could tell his two daughters.

Recently Saroj and Anita can hear about the father’s last wish from relatives. After that the two sisters talked about this with brother Rakesh Rastogir. Rakesh also agreed. After completing all the necessary legal work, they donated the land to Eidgah.

The value of the four bighas of land in Indian currency is more than one and a half crore rupees. In Bangladeshi currency the amount is about two and a quarter crore rupees. Rakesh said, ‘It is our duty to respect the last wish of the father. My sisters have done things that will bring peace to my father’s soul. ‘

In this context, Hasin Khan, one of the main members of the Eidgah Committee, said that the Eidgah Committee will always be grateful to them. The two sisters will be honored soon. And he added that at a time when the country is suffering from communal riots, the great work of these two sisters is
