Noakhali Correspondent: Locals have arrested two members of an organized fraud ring and handed them over to the police while selling fake gold at Senbagh in Noakhali.

The arrested are Amir Hossain (26) and Arif Hossain (32). They are residents of Paschim Mandari village under Chandraganj police station in Laxmipur district.

The incident took place at Hat Bazar of Chamir Munshi in Kabilpur Union of the upazila on Thursday (April 21) afternoon. While selling fake gold, the locals arrested them and informed the Senbagh police station. The police came to the spot and arrested them and took them to the police station.

According to the police sources, the members of the organized gang used to swindle money from the common people by pretending to have gold bars, earrings, gold chains etc. in different parts of the country including Noakhali. They are known to be trained and strong. With various tricks, they trap the women of the area and extort money in exchange for fake gold.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Senbagh Police Station Iqbal Hossain Patwari confirmed the matter. He further said that these two cheaters cheated in the same way with a woman from Begumganj. After receiving the news of their arrest, they came to Senbagh Police Station and identified the fraudsters. The fraudsters were handed over to Begumganj Police Station. He further said that if the victim woman files a case with Begumganj police station, the arrested accused will be sent to jail through the judicial court on Friday afternoon.
