The Ministry of Religion has announced a government-run Hajj package this year. Two Hajj packages have been proposed this year. State Minister for Religion Faridul Haque Khan Dulal made the announcement at a press conference on Wednesday (May 11th).

The minister said a package of Tk 4,56,530 has been proposed for privately managed pilgrims. However, privately managed Hajj agencies will be able to announce multiple packages in conjunction with Government Management Package-1 and Package-2.

He told a news conference that the holy Hajj would be held in Saudi Arabia on July 8. According to the bilateral Hajj agreement, a total of 56,575 pilgrims from Bangladesh, including 4,000 in government management and 53,575 in private management, will get the opportunity to go to Saudi Arabia for Hajj this year. Two packages for government management and one package for private management agencies have been proposed for 2022, calculating the airfare for pilgrims, house rent in Saudi Arabia, service charges, teacher fees, Zamzam water, food costs and other fees. Hajj pilgrims will also have to pay an additional 610 Saudi riyals or 19,063 rupees for the package.

The minister said the exchange rate of Saudi Riyal in 2020 was 23 rupees. Today the rate is 24 rupees 30 paise. This is also one of the reasons for the increase in package prices.
