Police have arrested a 12-year-old boy for delivering a child to a 17-year-old girl who was raped. The incident took place in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India. Indian media outlet NDTV has given this information in a report quoting the police.

According to Thanjavur police, six neighbors have been arrested on the basis of the allegations made by the victim. The girl recently gave birth at the government-run Rajah Mirasudar Hospital in Thanjavur district.

He was admitted to the hospital on April 17 with abdominal pain. Police later found out that the 12-year-old had been in a love affair with the girl for several years.

“We have confirmed the age of the teenager by DNA test,” said Rabimati, a police officer from Thanjavur police station. The arrested 7 teenagers have been sent to juvenile detention center.
