National Insurance Day will be observed at the district and upazila level on Wednesday (March 1) with the theme ‘My life is my wealth, if I insure it, I will be safe’. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the day as the chief guest. The opening ceremony will be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.

The National Insurance Day will be observed in coordination with the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance and the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA). This information was given in a press conference at the IDRA office on Monday.

In the press conference, IDRA Chairman Mohammad Zainul Bari said that the Prime Minister will be present in person at the opening ceremony of the National Insurance Day. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will preside over the event.

Apart from this, Secretary of Financial Institutions Department of Ministry of Finance Sheikh Mohammad Salim Ullah, Chairman of Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority Mohammad Zainul Bari and President of Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) Sheikh Kabir Hossain will be present as special guests in the event.

He also said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman joined the then Alfa Insurance Company as the head of the region on March 1, 1960. To commemorate the date, the government declared March 1 as ‘National Insurance Day’.
