Officials in Dhaka and Delhi say Jayashankar is coming to deliver Narendra Modi’s invitation to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit India. India’s foreign ministry said in a press release on Wednesday, Foreign Minister. S Jayashankar will visit Bangladesh and Bhutan from April 26 to 30. Jayashankar’s visit is being considered as part of frequent high-level exchanges on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The last visit of Indian Foreign Minister to Bangladesh was held in March 2021.

According to diplomatic sources in Dhaka, Jayashankar will arrive in Dhaka on a special flight at 2 pm. He will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 4 pm and hand over the invitation letter of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The foreign ministers will meet at the Foreign Service Academy at 5 pm.

The meeting will discuss the overall issues of bilateral relations. The Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting between the two countries is scheduled to be held in Delhi. The date of the JCC meeting is likely to be decided at today’s meeting. However, the current regional and international issues will be discussed seriously in the meeting. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to visit India in July. Earlier, a meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries would be held in Guwahati on the sidelines of the Asian Rivers Conference in late May.
