Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said, “We have always wanted elections through a transparent process. I accept the result of that election. I am hopeful that the government will come to power again under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina after the end of its term.

Hanif made the remarks in response to a question from reporters at his residence on PTI Road in Kushtia around 11:30 am on Friday.

Regarding the election of Dhaka Bar Council, Hanif said, “Awami League has been in power for 13 consecutive years since 2009. The Supreme Court has been elected many times in these 13 years. Many BNP candidates have won in this. The Awami League does not intend to use state power to defeat the BNP candidate.

Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said, “The connection of Begum Khaleda Zia’s case with the Dhaka Bar Council election is nothing but part of the BNP’s political strategy. The matter related to the election of the Supreme Court, the lawyers associated with the Supreme Court can give a good explanation.

In this regard, Hanif further said, “As far as we know, there was some controversy during the counting of the results after the election and the results have been published after recounting the votes in the light of the allegations.” There is no information outside of this.

Regarding the BNP movement, Hanif said, “Since 2012, top BNP leaders including Begum Khaleda Zia have repeatedly said that the government will be toppled through intense movement after Eid.” By the grace of God, the government has been in power for 13 consecutive years in the face of intense movement of BNP.
