Sixth grade student gang raped, 3 arrested including 2 teenagers

A sixth grade schoolgirl has been gang-raped in Deyara village of Dighalia upazila of Khulna. Police immediately arrested three people, including two teenagers, on charges of rape with the help of locals. They pleaded guilty Monday and gave a confessional statement in court.

On the other hand, the schoolgirl is undergoing treatment at the One Stop Crisis Center at Khulna Medical College Hospital. A rape case has been filed at Dighalia police station in this incident.

According to the statement filed by the girl’s mother at the police station, the girl left home with her classmates to go to school at around 10.45 am on Sunday. When he reached the paved road on the south side of Ambagan in the area around 11 pm, the girl’s ex-boyfriend Shant and two other friends Munna and Billal stopped the girl and threatened her.

At that moment, he slapped her and told her to go with them. If the girl refuses to go with them, Shant shows fear with the hammer in her hand. At one stage, the girl was scared and raped inside the mango orchard. Shantar was later raped by two other friends, Munna and Billal. Later, the people in the vicinity came forward to shout at the girl.

Dighalia police officer in charge immediately after receiving the news. A team of police led by Ahsan Ullah Chowdhury and Inspector (Investigation) Ripon Kumar Sarkar reached the spot, arrested the three accused and brought them to the police station with the help of locals. After receiving the news, Circle Officer of Khulna ‘A’ Zone Raju Ahmed visited the spot at noon on the day of the incident.

The girl’s mother has filed a case with Dighalia Police Station alleging gang rape. The accused are, Md. Shant Biswas, Munna and Billal Sheikh.

Inspector (Investigation) Report Kumar Sarkar said that since the two accused were below 18 years of age, their offenses could be tried under the Juvenile Act. The accused pleaded guilty in the court on Monday and gave a confessional statement under section 164.
