Sources further said that the process for the appointment of Mohammad Imran as the next Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States has already started. As per the rules, no-objection letter has been sought from the United States to accept him as ambassador.

Mohammad Imran was appointed as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh in New Delhi two and a half years ago on a contract basis. Last February, the government extended his contract for another three years.

Sources said that if his appointment as ambassador to Washington is finalized, the previous agreement will be canceled as per the rules and a new appointment will be made on contract basis.
