Police have arrested an old man for allegedly raping a ninth grade madrasa student in Pakundia, Kishoreganj. He was arrested from his village on Saturday night.

The arrested person is the cousin of the raped teenager. He was sent to jail by the court on Sunday afternoon.

According to family and case sources, the girl was teased on the way to and from the madrasa. The girl informed her mother about the matter. Later the matter was made known. The old man got angry. Last Saturday (April 2) around 11 am, the student was going to the madrasa from home. At that time, the accused old man took her home and raped her.

On Saturday afternoon, the girl’s mother filed a case with the Pakundia Police Station accusing the accused. The police arrested the accused in a day and night operation.

Pakundia Police Station OC Nahid Hasan Sumon said the only accused in the case filed by the girl’s mother had been arrested. He was sent to jail by the court on Sunday afternoon
