Narayanganj Correspondent: Mahmuda Khanam has acted as the secretary of Narayanganj Sonargaon Upazila Noagaon Union Parishad. Mahmuda Khanam is harassing the public in various ways to get services without the help of private brokers. When a student from Ladhurchar Madrasa came to the Union Parishad office to register his birth, he was demanded extra money through Dalan Syndicate. Because the mother of the student died in 2000, due to which her mother’s birth was not registered. After informing the UP chairman about the matter, the chairman resolved the issue.

Rahima Khatun of Shekkandi village, who came to the union council to serve Nita, said that for the past one month, even though she was 5 to 6 years old to register her son’s passport, the registration paper was not available. After we came to the Union Parishad, a member of the Dalal Chakra demanded 500 rupees. After two days, the registration paper will be delivered urgently, where the government free-150 rupees. A village police member working for the union parishad said on condition of anonymity that since joining, the union parishad secretary has been able to get along with members of various brokers. The members of the Dalal Chakra are collecting extra money from the members of the syndicate to avail all kinds of services including residents of different wards of the Union Parishad and government allowance cards.

Since joining the party during the tenure of the former UP chairman Yusuf Dewan, UP secretary Mahmuda Khanam has developed a relationship with members of the Dalal clique. Everyone, including the current chairman Shamsul Alam (Samsu), is being humiliated every day for his activities. He always misbehaved with the people who came to take union services. In many cases, he is accused of assault. Newly elected Union Parishad chairman Shamsul Alam Shams said the authorities would be informed soon if he received correct information and received written allegations. The people of Sonargaon Noagaon Union Parishad are demanding the intervention of the authorities in the matter within a short time.
