On the occasion of the 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day, the President paid tribute at his tomb in Tungipara, Gopalganj. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Head of State and the Head of Government laid wreaths at Bangabandhu’s tomb at Tungipara on Friday at 11:15.
After paying their respects, they stood in silence for a while. A sharp contingent of the armed forces gave the armed salute at this time.
Later, a special prayer was offered for the souls of Bangabandhu and his family members who died on August 15.
After the President and Prime Minister paid their respects, President Abdul Hamid’s wife Rashida Khanam and family members paid their respects at Bangabandhu’s tomb.
And Sheikh Hasina, as Awami League president, along with the party’s top leaders, once again laid wreaths at Bangabandhu’s mausoleum. He also paid tribute to the family members separately.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to Bangabandhu’s portrait at Dhanmondi of DHA after 7 am.
Later he left for Tungipara by road from Ganabhaban. He crossed the Padma Bridge and reached Tungipara at 10 am via Gopalganj. Party leaders welcomed him there.
The Prime Minister came to Bangabandhu’s mausoleum around 10:30 am. After a while, the family arrived there. Abdul Hamid. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcomed them there.
After paying homage, the Prime Minister participated in the children’s rally there. At the end of the rally, he will distribute the prizes of the drawing competition and grant to the needy meritorious children. He will inaugurate the three-day book fair.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to leave Tungipara for Dhaka in the afternoon.
