PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto has become the youngest foreign minister in Pakistan. The 33-year-old leader is now one of the world’s youngest foreign ministers. Earlier, PPP’s Hina Rabbani Khar was sworn in as Pakistan’s foreign minister. The news was reported by Pakistani media Geo TV.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto was sworn in as Union Minister at the President’s Office on Wednesday (April 26th). Despite taking the oath, the Shahbaz administration did not make a final decision on which ministry Bilawal would be in charge of. However, according to Pakistani media and Bilawal’s party, the 33-year-old leader will take charge of the foreign ministry. The reason was that the post of Foreign Minister has been left vacant.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Bilawal Bhutto took charge of the foreign ministry. Ministry officials briefed him on foreign affairs. Bilawal then went to the Chinese embassy in Islamabad. He was accompanied by Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar.
Oxford student Bilawal Bhutto, son of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, became the first member of the cabinet. As he did not take oath with other ministers, there were rumors of an alliance with Bilawal. However, the PPP said it would work to strengthen Shahbaz Sharif’s government.
