BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia went to Evercare Hospital in the capital for a health check-up on Monday afternoon. He is scheduled to return home at night after the health check-up.
Khaleda Zia left for the hospital from Feroza’s residence in Gulshan around 4:12 pm. At that time, several leaders and activists including his personal doctor and BNP Vice Chairman AZM Zahid Hossain were with him.
Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with some senior leaders of the party met Khaleda Zia.
Khaleda Zia last visited Evercare Hospital for checkup on August 22 last year. Since then he is receiving treatment by staying at home.
Khaleda Zia has been suffering from various complications including arthritis, diabetes, dental and eye problems for many years. In April 2021, he was infected with the coronavirus.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on April 27 of that year due to various physical complications. At one point he was taken to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).
He was in CCU for about two months. He returned home from there on June 19. Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia went to Sheikh Russell National Gastroliver Institute and Hospital in Mohakhali twice to get anti-coronavirus vaccination. After taking the first dose of corona vaccine on July 19, he took the second dose on August 18.
Khaleda Zia went to jail on February 8, 2008 after being convicted in a corruption case. On March 25, 2020, the government granted him conditional release in the context of the Corona epidemic.
So far, Khaleda Zia’s release period has been extended six times. Since then he has been staying at Gulshan residence.
