The police have arrested four persons including two women on the charge of defrauding an expatriate woman in Dinajpur by pretending to be ‘Jinner Begum’. A case has been filed against 4 people in the police station and sent to the court. The investigating officer of the case has asked the court to remand the arrested persons for further investigation and confession.
Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed gave this information in a press briefing at Dinajpur Police Superintendent’s office on Sunday (March 5). The arrested accused are – Babu’s wife Mrs. Laiju (40), Altaf Hossain (52) and her daughter Ankhi Subarna (30) and son Anurag Al Imran Anand (27) of Patuapara (adjacent to Social Service Office) area of Dinajpur city.
Superintendent of Police Shah Iftekhar Ahmed said that the resident of Balubari area of Dinajpur city, the American expatriate Mocha. Mrs. Laiju and her sister-in-law (sister-in-law) Altaf Hossain and her daughter Ankhi Subarna and son Anurag Al Imran Anand stole about three crore rupees from April 7, 2020 to March 20, 2022 by deceiving Rokeya Rahman and pretending to be Begum of Jinn. Rokeya Rahman, a religious expatriate, came to visit the country and first met Mrs. Laiju, the begum of the alleged jinn, on April 7, 2020 at the New Market Mahila Mosque in the capital Dhaka.
Later, under different guises, Laiju and his three colleagues, with the help of Jinn’s Begum, stole three crore rupees from Bikash and Mercantile Bank through their own bank account. Begum of Jinn and her three accomplices are said to have threatened their family if Rokeya Rahman does not pay the money.
Akhin Subarna is working as an officer in Mercantile Bank, Dinajpur. Her husband Rachel is an Italian expatriate. Ankhi Suwarna and her husband Rachel built a super shopping mall in Italy with the fraudulent money. On the other hand, Mrs. Laiju is an abandoned husband. He lives with his sister-in-law’s family in Dinajpur.
Sarwar Rahman, the son of Rokeya Rahman, who was cheated in this incident, found out that his mother was being cheated, met Mrs. Laiju, the begum of the alleged jinn, and her three accomplices and asked them not to cheat again and asked for the mother’s money back. On the contrary, they became angry with Sarwar Rahman. Later, Sarwar Rahman reported the matter to the police on Saturday (March 4). Police took the case of Dinajpur Kotyali police station.
SI (retd) Indra Mohan Roy is the investigating officer in this case. The police conducted a raid and arrested them at night. 4 expensive mobile phones, a 150 cc motorcycle, check book, credit visa card and several documents were recovered from them.
Incidentally: Mrs. Laiju and her sister-in-law Altaf Hossain’s village house is in Sundarganj police station of Gaibandha district. A case has been filed against them in the court for fraud.
In addition, a complaint has been made to the police that Laizoo has recently stolen a large sum of money from a person named Farooq, a Saudi expatriate, posing as Jinn’s Begum.
