The name of the exhibition is ‘Jalkanya’. Jalkanya is a group of women artists who paint in water colors. They draw pictures in the busyness of career and family life. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Jalkanya has organized a six-day exhibition.
Prothom Alo managing editor Anisul Haque and painter GM Khalilur Rahman inaugurated the painting exhibition at the Shilpangan Gallery at 6 pm last Sunday. They inaugurated the exhibition by lighting the lamp with the artists. The title sponsor of the exhibition is The City Bank Limited.
The exhibition will continue with 37 paintings by 17 artists of Jalkanya. But not only watercolours, several acrylic works are also on display.
Suparna Alice Gomez, the founder of Jalkanya, said that the profession of mother is very challenging, as a mother, a woman is painting along with all the tasks of daily life, this is a great achievement. Women today are very strong mentally. They are still drawing pictures, keeping the profession of drawing pictures even after raising children, children’s education, doing various household chores. As we love mother, we also love country. So the theme of our exhibition this year is ‘Bangladesh’. Through this event we are showing respect to all working mothers.
GM Khalilur Rahman, retired chief designer of Bangladesh Television, was present at the exhibition as a special guest. He said that painting with water is a very difficult task. A person can become a painter only if he works with the knowledge given by the Creator and with his own concentration.
Prothom Alo Managing Editor Anisul Haque was present as the chief guest. He congratulated everyone who painted in the picture exhibition organized on the occasion of Mother’s Day. He said, a person has to work hard, do a lot of sadhana to become a painter. Among all the work, it is a very difficult task to paint and exhibit Bangladesh. You have succeeded in this task, thank you all.
The artists participating in the exhibition are Suparna Alice Gomez, Sabia Nasreen, Mahfuza Beauty, Tandra Mukherjee, Sanchita Saha, Nasreen Sultana Siddiqui, Anamika Soor, Jacqueline Rhea Rosario, Marianne Aitri Gomez, Nazmun Nahar Rahman, Nazia Hasan, Elina Chakma, Euphraji Pooja Gomez, Teresa Esha Gomez, Mabel Amenda Gomez, Nuzhat Naima Nadia and Mohana Rosario.
The exhibition will run until Friday, May 19. The exhibition can be visited daily from 3 pm to 8 pm.
