Hundreds of shops were burnt to ashes in the fire at Chaumuhani Bazar in Noakhali
Noakhali Correspondent: Nine units of the fire service brought the fire under control at Chaumuhoni Bazaar in Begumganj of Noakhali after six hours. The fire was brought under control around 12:30 pm.
The fire broke out at the Station Market in Chaumuhani Bazar around 6:30 pm on Thursday. Hundreds of shops were gutted in the blaze.
Businessman Mizanur Rahman said 12 people, including traders and employees of the damaged shop, were injured in the blaze. Nine of them were given first aid at the Upazila Health Complex. The three have been sent to Noakhali 250-bed General Hospital for advanced treatment.
Noakhali Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Shahidul Islam said, on the way to the scene after receiving the news of the fire, the owner of Marwa Fashion in Hossain Market. Rinku, 40, died of a heart attack. The extent of the damage caused by the fire is not yet known.
