After a long hiatus of two years, Bangladeshi expatriates in Turkey reunited for Iftar. The event titled Grand Iftar 2022, organized by Bangladesh Students Association in Turkey – Basat, an organization of Bangladeshi students in Turkey, turned into a gathering of Bangladeshis.
At a ceremony held at the Community Center next to the historic Fatih Mosque in Istanbul on Saturday (April 17), Emre Aruch, head of the Istanbul office of the official scholarship ‘Turkiye Bursalari’, and Dr. Usman Akgul was the special guest.
Also present were a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis, including professors of various internationally renowned universities, senior officials of reputed institutions and students.
Grand Iftar begins with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Before Iftar, the invited guests gave short speeches. Besides, Bangladeshi students enhanced the beauty of the program by singing various hamd-naats in a heart-warming voice.
The Turkish guests were always fascinated by the culture, sincerity, solidarity and religiosity of the people of Bangladesh. They appreciated the hospitality of Bangladeshis.
Arranging local food on foreign soil, especially iftar during Ramadan is rare. It becomes more difficult when a large part of Bangladeshi students are in dormitories. So this event was much awaited for Bangladeshi teachers.
