The Baltic state of Latvia came out of the former communist Soviet Union and became a capitalist state almost two decades ago. But in the capitalist system, as much as Latvian women have advanced, their men have lagged behind. The average life expectancy of women is eleven years longer than that of men.
There are a few famous countries in Europe where women outnumber men. Russia, Latvia, Belarus, Lithuania, Armenia, Ukraine have more women than men. Therefore, in these countries, there is a crisis of men for marriage. In Latvia, the number of women is 116.0 per 100 men. In Lithuania, the number of females is 116.2 per 100 males. There are 115.5 females for every 100 males in Armenia. Russia has 115.3 females for every 100 males. Belarus has 115.2 females per 100 males. The number of females per 100 males in Ukraine is 115.6.
In these countries there is a social imbalance between men and women. Evidence of this imbalance between men and women can be found at the University of Latvia. There are 50 percent more female students than male students.
Sociologist Baiba Bella says that in these countries, at the age when women are ready to start a family, men are either dying or committing suicide. And the number of suicides is four times their natural death. Gender imbalances are first noticed between the ages of 30 and 40. Because men are dying three times more than the number of women dying at that age.
This means that men are more at risk than women in car accidents, drug addiction, workplace accidents, etc. among those ages. Due to these reasons, women in these countries are struggling to get pot for marriage.
