Bagerhat Correspondent: The Coast Guard warship ‘BCGS Kamruzzaman’ has returned to Mongla after a 22-day goodwill visit to India and Sri Lanka and taking part in an international exercise. According to the Coast Guard’s Mongla West Zone headquarters, the Coast Guard’s offshore patrol vessel (OPV) ‘BCGS Kamruzzaman’ took part in the ‘National Level Pollution Response Exercise’ to be held in Goa and Chennai, India. The 22-day goodwill tour first reached Sri Lanka in 4 days and then stayed in Chennai and Goa in India for 7 days. The ship’s captain, Capt. M. Kibria Hoque, was accompanied by 15 officers, 108 sailors and 8 civilians.

Capt. M Mosaid Hossain, Zonal Commander, Coast Guard West Zone, said that the participation in this international exercise has further strengthened the existing mutual cooperation and friendly relations between Bangladesh and other countries’ Coast Guards. As a result, professional development, skills and scope of work of Coast Guard members will be greatly enhanced. In addition to controlling law and order, smuggling and drug control, the conservation of forest resources and protection of fisheries resources will be further accelerated.
