Today is May 29, Biscuit Day. Although the day is celebrated in different countries of the world including the United Kingdom, the United States, there is no information about the official observance of the day in Bangladesh. It’s UK National Day.

Even if it is the national day of that country, we can celebrate it. I can taste a biscuit with a cup of tea.
The name of King Charles of England in 1630 is associated with that calorie-rich food. It was he who decided to launch the first day.

Biscuits are baked in different shapes with flour. Usually flavored with sugar, chocolate and cinnamon. The small baked goods are known as ‘cookies’ in the US and outside of North America.

Historically, members of the military and traders of the ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian empires often spent a long period of the year at sea or in remote areas. Hence the need for a food that is light in weight, sufficiently caloric and easily digestible. That food was invented keeping this in mind. It was decided to celebrate the day on this day every year to highlight the importance of biscuits.
