The holy Eid al-Fitr has been celebrated in Italy with religious solemnity. On Monday (May 2), Eid was celebrated in various parts of Italy, including the capital Rome. Eid congregations have been held at various places including Piacea Vittorio, the heart of Bangladeshi business in Rome, Largo Prentice, Casilina Broken Wall Field, Lalon Park in Maranella.
In the open field of the broken wall of Casilina in Tarpinatara, four consecutive congregations were held at 7:30 in the morning and 4:15 in the second. Similarly, the first congregation was held at Largo Prenes at 8:30 in the morning and then a few more congregations were organized. The first congregation has been arranged at 7 am at Lalon Park in Maranella, thus three more congregations have been organized in a row. Religious Muslims have also celebrated Eid in various places in Italy, including Santeselle, Montevarde, Albano Lassielle, and Venice.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy Shamim Ahsan along with expatriate Bangladeshis offered prayers at the Eidgah of Vittorio Chattar at 8.30 am. He later exchanged greetings with the expatriates. The ambassador, wishing everyone a happy Eid, said, “I prayed at Piazza Vittoria Park.” Glad to be able to join Eid Jamaat with a large number of Bangladeshis there. The Ambassador once again wished Eid to all.
Among them are Imam Humayun Rashid Razi of TMC Jame Mosque, Maulana Ruhul Amin of Via Maranella Jame Mosque, Imam Mahfuz of Kuba Mosque, Maulana Mizanur Rahman of Rome and many others.
Incidentally, as the outbreak of Corona subsided this year and the state of emergency in Italy was lifted on March 31, the expatriates happily joined the Eid Jamaat. Due to the lack of restrictions, the presence of worshipers in different places was noticeable. Each congregation was overflowing with worshipers.
Due to the high attendance of worshipers in some places, the mosque management committee arranged for more congregations. Besides, as there is a separate arrangement for female worshipers, they join the congregation in comfort. The mosque authorities also said that there were more attendees than at different times.
Shahadat Hossain, general secretary of the Greater Comilla Association, said the first congregation was held at 8.30 am. There are three consecutive congregations in Baitul Mamun Mosque. In the second congregation I perform Eid prayers.
He said that this year’s Eid has been celebrated in a really nice way. Because of the outbreak of corona last year, there was no rejoicing. Compared to that, this Eid had a festive atmosphere. This Eid is celebrated with joy due to the presence of many devotees. We, the expatriate Bangladeshis in Venice, are thankful to Allah for being able to celebrate Eid in such a joyous atmosphere.
