A Bangladeshi youth named Shafiqul Islam has died tragically after being hit by a motorcycle in Lebanon.
The accident took place in Jala area at 8 pm on Tuesday (April 26). The body is currently in the cold storage of the local Sarhal Hospital.
It is learned that Shafiqul Islam, son of Abdul Sattar Malli of Sarmahal village in Nalchiti upazila of Jhalokati district, came to Lebanon in 2016 on a company visa in search of livelihood. He lived legally with his wife in a house in Jala area.
On Tuesday evening, while going to another brother’s house after Iftar at his house, he was hit by a motorcycle from behind and fled at high speed. Shafiqul Islam was seriously injured in the accident and was lying on the side of the road.
Later, local Bangladeshis rescued him and took him to the local Sarhal Hospital, where he died on Wednesday morning. The doctor said that he died due to heavy bleeding due to head injury.
It is learned that the Bangladesh embassy has taken necessary steps to inform about the accident.
Meanwhile, the tragic death of Shafiqul Islam has cast a shadow of mourning over his family and expatriate colleagues in Bangladesh.
