Bangladesh gives emergency medicine worth Tk 20 crore to Sri Lanka

Bangladesh gave medicine worth Tk 20 crore to Sri Lanka. The medicines were officially handed over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the state guest house Padma on Thursday (May 5). This medicine was gifted to Sri Lanka by the people of Bangladesh.

Foreign Minister was present on the occasion. AK Abdul Momen, Health Minister. Zahid Malek, Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Dhaka Professor Sudarshan Seneviratne, President of Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Industry Association Nazmul Hasan Papon, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen.

Foreign Minister on the occasion. AK Abdul Momen said that Sri Lanka is going through a crisis As neighbors and friends, we stand by Sri Lanka.

“Under the direction of the Prime Minister, we are giving medicine worth Tk 20 crore to Sri Lanka,” he said. I will give more help if needed in future.

Health Minister Dr. Zahid Malek said, “As a neighboring country, we have stood by Sri Lanka under the direction of the Prime Minister.” We are always by the side of the neighbors. I will stay in the future.

Professor Sudarshan Seneviratne, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Dhaka, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stood by Sri Lanka. We are grateful and thankful to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for this.

According to sources, Sri Lanka is in a deep economic crisis. The country is facing an acute shortage of food as well as medicines. There are many people going from pharmacy to pharmacy for medicine. Many people are not able to procure emergency medicines even after visiting many pharmacies. ”

The country is unable to import life-saving products like medicines due to lack of foreign exchange. The health sector of Lanka has become the most sick. Many necessary medicines have run out there.

It is to be noted that Sri Lanka has to import 75% of its medicines from abroad.
