In addition, when you go abroad, you can take with you the amount of 10 thousand dollars. For this, no approval is required from Bangladesh Bank. However, if it is more than 10 thousand, it has to be declared to the customs authority. Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday (May 10) issued a notification in this regard to inform about the free transfer of foreign currency abroad. The central bank has issued this notification to remove the confusion among the people.
Under the existing foreign exchange transaction system, expatriates living abroad can operate private foreign currency accounts or non-resident foreign currency deposit accounts in the country. Foreign currency sent from abroad or foreign currency brought to Bangladesh from abroad can be deposited as these. Passengers from abroad can bring any amount of foreign currency to Bangladesh. If there is a maximum of 10 thousand dollars or the equivalent in other currencies brought with it, there is no need to give a declaration to the customs authorities.
The central bank says the status of these locally operated foreign currency accounts can be cashed in free money. Expatriates from abroad can take with them in the form of a maximum of five thousand US dollars from their account status and with other foreign currency as required subject to the status of the account. The status of these foreign currency accounts operated in the name of expatriates or non-expatriates can be freely remitted abroad with interest. In this case, no approval of Bangladesh Bank is required.
