The fire at Bangabazar in Gulistan, one of the largest cloth markets in the country, has finally been extinguished. The fire was fully extinguished at 9:30 am today, Friday, almost four days after the fire broke out.
Shahjahan Shikder, a senior officer of the media wing of the fire service, confirmed the matter. However, the cause of the fire is still unknown.
Last Tuesday at 5:50 am, a fire broke out in Bangabazar, Gulistan of the capital. On that day, about 50 units of the fire service with the help of the army and the air force brought the fire under control after about 6 and a half hours of effort.
The fire service said that a large part of Bangabazar was on a wooden frame. The three-story structure collapsed along the ground as the wood-frame fire engulfed it. Several structures including shutters and stalls of the market shops were made of iron. There was a pile of clothes under it, which is why it took time to put out the fire.
