According to the moon of the holy month of Ramadan, the month of Ramadan has started from 3rd April (Sunday). Al-Quran, the book of guidance for mankind, was revealed on the night of Qadr of this month. Devout devotees will observe the holy Lailatul Qadr on Thursday night, April 26.

A statement issued by the Islamic Foundation on Saturday (April 2) said, “The moon of the holy month of Ramadan has been seen in the sky of Bangladesh. The countdown to the holy month of Ramadan will begin on April 3. Holy Shabe Kadar will be celebrated on Thursday night, April 26.

Lailatul Qadr is a unique blessing for the Muslim Ummah. ‘Shab’ is Persian and ‘Lailatun’ is Arabic word which means night. And Kadar means honor and greatness. So Shabe Qadr or Lailatul Qadr means the night of honor and glory or the night of dignity.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Verily, I have sent it (the Qur’aan) down on the Night of Power. Do you know what Lailatul Qadr is? Lailatul Qadr is the best night of a thousand months. On this night, angels and spirits are revealed at the command of their Lord for every task. Peace, which lasts till Fajr of that night (Surah Qadr, 1-5). ‘
