A year after the opening of the consulate office of Bangladesh in Florida, the passport machine has not been installed. In this, millions of Bangladeshis living in 8 states have to go to Washington DC to renew their passports. In addition to the suffering of expatriates, the government is losing thousands of dollars in revenue per day.

The weather in Florida is similar to that of Bangladesh. There are various business and job opportunities. Therefore, this state of the United States is one of the choices of expatriate Bangladeshis. That is why the consulate office of Bangladesh was opened in Florida in February last year.

In addition to Florida, the states of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana are also covered. But passport machine has not been installed in this office even in one year.

At present facilities like birth registration, power of attorney are available in Florida office. Consulate General Iqbal Ahmed says that it is possible to earn three thousand dollars a day if a passport machine is installed.

There are 24 US states under the consulate offices of New York, Los Angeles and Florida. The expatriates of the remaining 26 provinces are directly under the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC.
