BNP’s Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the Awami League government is carrying out totalitarian aggression to stay in power.
He said that the aggression of this government today is omnipresent. On the one hand it is distorting our history, on the other hand it is destroying our economy and making it dependent. On the other hand, the whole dictatorship is moving towards a fascist state by taking politics completely into a one-party system of government and completely removing it from our basic democratic thinking. This government is doing these things in a planned way.
The BNP secretary general made the remarks at a discussion meeting at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club on Wednesday (April 26).
On the occasion of the 70th death anniversary of Sher-e-Bangla AKM Fazlul Haque, a discussion meeting titled ‘Relevance of Sher-e-Bangla in Today’s Context’ was organized by Sher-e-Bangla National Youth Memorial Foundation.
The BNP secretary general said the government has destroyed all the institutions today to stay in power. You see, the police have been doing that for some time. The clash between the traders of Dhaka College and New Market left two dead. What did the police do first? A case was filed against the BNP leaders and they were arrested and one was remanded for three days. However, in all their investigative reports in every media, it is seen that the main culprits are the terrorists of Chhatra League who attacked with weapons and killed those two. Look again at the park that occupies the banana garden next to it, the football field that the children occupy, the police station is being built there.
There are many such incidents. Today in Bangladesh, any kind of security of the people is far away, the incidents of how they can be harassed more and more are going on.
Mirza Fakhrul said that politics is being destroyed in a planned manner, opposition politics is being destroyed. In a false case, there are cases against Begum Khaleda Zia for bombing six places simultaneously. This is the lie, this is the horrible destruction of the whole politics – this is what the Awami League has started. That is why we always say that the Awami League has actually taken a stand against the people, against politics and against the independence of Bangladesh. That is why Sher-e-Bangla AKM Fazlul Haque is more relevant to us today. If we understand our original place, if we can work to protect our original existence, then we must try to make that place a success.
Highlighting the colorful biography of Sher-e-Bangla AKM Fazlul Haque, he said, “Today we have completely forgotten Sher-e-Bangla Fazlul Haque.” Excluding our textbooks, it is not relevant in other books and letters.
When we see such people doing research on Sher-e-Bangla by discussing Smriti Sangsads, we don’t see them coming, we don’t hear them talking. It is highly planned that the history of all Bangladesh is being distorted today in order to establish a single family, a single philosophy to bring it to the fore. In today’s textbooks, however, no one but a leader smells a name. Our little grandchildren who go to school there but they know the name of one, do not know the name of another. Even in your college, university they are probably studying but the name of Sher-e-Bangla has been completely forgotten. Does anyone know the grave of Mr. Sher-e-Bangla Fazlul Haque from here (National Press Club) very close to Suhrawardy Udyan? There are graves of three people here, including the tomb of Mr. Sher-e-Bangla.
The meeting was chaired by Akhtarul Alam Khan, President of the organization and chaired by former MP Zahir Uddin Swapan. Keep it.
