Five people, including the chief engineer of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, have been suspended in connection with the collision and damage of two Biman Bangladesh Airlines planes in the hangar of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. Biman Bangladesh Airlines spokesperson and general manager of public relations Tahera Khandaker confirmed the dismissal on Wednesday night, saying departmental action had been taken against the officials. Permanent action will be taken after a thorough investigation.

On 10 April, a Boeing-737 crashed into a hangar at Shahjalal Airport while another Boeing-8 was already there. At that time both the planes were severely damaged. On April 13, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism formed a four-member investigation committee into the incident. They were asked to submit an investigation report within seven working days. At present Biman Bangladesh Airlines has 21 aircraft. Of these, four are Boeing 8-300 ER, four are Boeing 6-4, two are Boeing 8-9, six are Boeing 737-800 and five are DC 7-400.
