1 killed in clash between two sides of Chhatra League in Chittagong
A BCL leader named Ivan has been killed in clashes between two factions of the BCL in Chittagong. The incident took place in Cheragipahar area of the city on Friday (April 22). The deceased was identified as Tareq Ivan Jamalkhan, religious affairs secretary of Chhatra League.
According to locals, the supporters of ward councilor Shaibal Das Sumon and the followers of Sadman Sabbir, the joint secretary of Mahanagar Chhatra League, were in a state of tension over the issue. After Iftar on Friday, there was an argument and chase between the two sides at the Andarkilla intersection of the city over the showdown. Due to this the two sides got involved in the conflict.
At night, both sides gathered at the corner of Cheragi hill and clashed again. Ivan was stabbed to death.
