Azizur Rahman Dulal: A motorcyclist named Mohammad Shafiqul Khan (52) was killed in a collision with a shop at Ichapasha area on Kashiani Road in Alfadanga upazila of Faridpur district. The accident took place at around 8 am on Thursday.

Gopalpur Union Awami League president Mohammad Monaim Khan, 50, was injured. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shafiqul Khan, elder son of Gani Khar of Gopalpur village under Gopalpur union of the upazila. He is the Youth and Sports Affairs Secretary of Gopalpur Union Awami League and a guardian member of Kamar Gram Kanchan Academy. Injured Monaim Khan said, “When we were coming from Kashiani to the Iftar market on a motorbike, the shutters of a roadside shop in Ichhapasha village of Alfadanga Upazila broke and our car got inside. The locals came and rescued us and brought us to Alfadanga Health Complex. On-duty doctor- Md. Shafiqul Khan was declared dead. Shafiqul Khan Shafi is survived by his wife, two children and numerous admirers. Bangladesh Awami League presidium member Md Abdur Rahman has expressed deep grief and sympathy over the death of Awami League leader Shafiqul.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Alfadanga Police Station Wahiduzzaman has admitted the truth of the incident. He said the body of a man was recovered from the spot. Injured Union Awami League president Md Monaim Khan has been sent home with temporary treatment.
